The information age and the brain

Radiograph of my head - Do you find my brain?Image by alles-schlumpf via FlickrWe are living in times of exponential change. Courses are becoming out of date at times before the course finishes. Therefore, education will have to move from teaching "what" (the push model - learning what you are told) to teaching "how" (the pull model - learning what you need).

As Darwin said, the evolutionary winners are those most adaptable to change. Online content and search engines, combined with mobile devices, have devalued the value of memorising of facts and increased the important of being able to find and use the facts. You only have remember where to look.

So what does a winning brain look like in the future? What is the shift in psychology/brain activity at play here? Will the structure of the brain evolve to depend on technology to retrieve data instead of brain synapses? Will the part of the brain which memorises data shrink? This would be a great PhD thesis should anyone take up the challenge!
